Brim to Provide Management Services for Palm Drive Hospital


Brentwood, Tenn., July 29, 2009 -- Brim Healthcare was recently selected to provide management services for the 37-bed Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol, California. The decision was made after a unanimous vote by the Palm Drive Health Care District Board of Directors.

"Brim has come highly recommended to us," said Dan Smith, board president. "In addition to a CEO, they offer a full support system, which I believe is necessary for the next phase of Palm Drive's business growth. They'll do a full assessment of our organization and decide what resources are needed to make us the best hospital we can be."

Under the agreement with Brim, Neil Todhunter will serve as interim chief executive officer. Todhunter brings over 20 years experience in healthcare administration, and recently served as president and chief executive officer at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Todhunter has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana and a Master of Hospital Administration from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Palm Drive Hospital, an independent healthcare district, is governed by a publicly elected, five-member board of directors. The hospital provides a full range of primary acute care services including emergency care, medical/surgical services, intensive care and outpatient ambulatory services. With 218 physicians on staff, Palm Drive Hospital is the only 24-hour acute care facility in western Sonoma County.

Since 1971, Brim Healthcare has worked with community hospitals to help them achieve stability, growth and success. With the addition of Palm Drive Hospital, Brim operates 36 acute-care hospitals in 18 states. In California, Brim manages the 107-bed Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District in Brawley and the 77-bed San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning.
