Lawrence Medical Center Earns Gold Seal of Approval
MOULTON, Ala., August 1, 2009--- Lawrence Medical Center in Moulton, Ala. recently received The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for its health care services. The Joint Commission is the nation's preeminent health care standards-setting and accrediting body that has evaluated the quality and safety in patient care of hospitals for more than 50 years.
"We are proud of Lawrence Medical's ongoing compliance with The Joint Commission's standards," said Gene Wright, Brim's Regional Vice President for the medical center. "Receiving best practice recognition and the accreditation is such a great symbol and sign to the community of the safe, high-quality health care provided at Lawrence Medical Center."
The Joint Commission performs an unannounced survey every three to four years to ensure all requirements are being met at the hospital. In addition to receiving the Gold Seal of Approval, Lawrence Medical Center was recognized for its "best practices" concerning its evaluation tool for fire drill procedures and for its core measures quality improvement plan.
Lawrence Medical Center is a 98-bed, acute-care hospital serving Moulton, along with several counties across northwest Alabama. The hospital provides a full-range of primary, acute-care services including 24-hour emergency care, medical/surgical services, and advanced imaging and diagnostic services. The medical center has been managed by Brim since April, 2008.
